A Diary of Hope
Dear Friends,
Robin and I, Doll are saying happy day to you. It has been a busy and profitable week. We placed four dogs. Trixie was with us only a few days when Mary Rollins fell in love with her. Doc brought Trixie from the Grenada shelter for us to place. Her time was up. Poor little girl. Her right front foot was broken in four places and calcified.
Duncan was one of the sweetest pups we ever met. His grandmother was a pit, his mother quit mixed. Dad was the border collie from across the road. Before we rescued him, and his brother three of the seven pups had simply disappeared. We will have his mom spayed. She will live with the family that was feeding her.
Robin rescued Hank along the Natchez - Trace HWY. It is a huge park area with no homes. Hank is chow and border collie. His new family adore him.
Honey was not supposed to go to PETsMART on Sunday. Gay and Rita, two of our wonderful friends were helping load the dogs that were off to find a home. When I asked them to load Honey, it was really clear to me that I was talking about our honey whom we have all been concerned has to be in a single enclosure. She isn't always nice to other dogs. Well, they went all the way to the back of the compound and pulled my Honey Bunny from her happy family, and loaded her. When we got to Jackson I was shocked. It was a good thing that I decided she needed her own family, because three families began to vie for her. Before I could say No! she has a happy doggie group that doesn't want to lose her, the dye was cast. Honey went home with toys, a new bed, a bandana, and the biggest of smiles on her face. We will take our other Honey next Sunday.
As for Honey Bunny's friends they miss her. She is the coolest dog on the planet. She not only takes chill pills in rough situations, she gives them. She didn't tolerate squabbles. We recently moved Liza from her group because they had enough of her bossiness. Honey befriended her and chilled her out. I will miss Honey and MS. Beasley until I have no memory. The two friends I wanted for life, both now have their own families.
Friday Robin was on her way home to Saltillo when I called her cell # to let her know that the Chickasaw County Sheriff's Dept. needed our help with a horse neglect case. She was just entering Houston, MS. where the Dept. is located. She handled the case and was on her way. How awesome to have her and Bob.
Our latest canine enclosure is nearly complete. As soon as the building is delivered we will move some of our friends from our original care area. The fencing and facilities there are not only worn, but insufficient. We are so excited.
Doc and Dr. Ann have been busy helping us as always. We couldn't function without them.
I am preparing for several court cases. This Wednesday Bob will attend a hearing in Pontotoc to lend moral support to Bob Mosley, who had his landlord arrested for the death of his dog. Thursday I will face off with Jennifer Montgomery for her cruel neglect of the two dogs she abandoned after "allegedly" burning her home.
Our buddy, Heather was out Friday and took 62 digital photos with our camera. She has agreed to aid us with getting them on our website. I Forgot! She adopted Austin Friday. Yes! We placed Five, not Four dogs.
We are taking photos for our first ever all Project Hope Newsletter. It's the worst time of year for photos, but we'll do our best.
We are meeting this year's legislative hurtles and are really pleased. We have engaged the aid of some very well positioned folks. We will tell you who when it's appropriate for thanks, and we're in the clear of possible derailments.
As always we are working numerous cases, and plotting along with our campaigns. It is a real challenge to keep up with everything.
We sign off now with the deepest of thanks for your support and friendship.
