The canine care center development has been frustrating. Because the jobbers have no schedule for me they come when they can cram us in their schedules. Work that should be done in steps is being done out of since and having to be undone - then done later when the interim steps have been completed. Examples: The electrician/plumber fastened the sink to the wash/storage house floor before the linoleum was laid. Guess what? The covered rest decks were positioned before the dog buildings were built and placed, and the shade cloth posts were set. The decks had to be moved for the buildings to come in, and then the tractor has to dig the holes for the shade cloth posts..... Yikes!
At least it is getting there. The new chicken fencing is half completed. I can't wait until the chickens get to strut their stuff.
I am desperately seeking someone to nurse 4 kittens we rescued. They are day-old, and guess who's carrying them along everywhere.
I will have an employment questionnaire up on the web by Monday. I am desperate for the world's most capable and totally caring person to live and work here. If I find a local person who lives nearby that will be okay - but better if they are in the heart of things.
The questionnaire will be tough. I'm looking for a person who can run on water - and get along with me (maybe even like me).
Calls flooded in this week about poisonings, and neglect. I also worked with a TV reporter regarding animal shelter horrors. There will be follow-up. I also steered her to a messed up raid in which the police found and got the drugs, found dog-fighting equipment and set-up - but left the scene with no one watching the dogs and gee! they disappeared.
I am trying to help a man get his 4 stolen dogs back. He discovered where they are being kept, but is having trouble getting authorities to seize them.
There has been interest in our web-site adoption list.
I have 2 cruelty cases to address today and tomorrow. I am also trying to aid with the humane capture of a frightened preg. dog. We accepted a rescued puppy today. He is darling. A little weak, but very cute. He's a black cocker mix.
We've placed 2 of the 3 pups saved from the dumpster a little over a month ago.
I'm struggling with people not following through with complaints regarding puppy mills, and other situations. For some reason people seem to feel relieved that they made the initial call. Doesn't do the animals a bit of good if we don't have the documentation we need.
Legislation is on our front burner. We have some good material from AL to fashion our presentation to legislators after.
Teri, a small male terrier mix we rescued a few months ago is under-going heart worm treatment. He needed to get the rest of his health in order first.
I covered some of what's up here. As usual I need to cut this short and get flying. Tell everyone we need immediate funding to complete the canine care center. It will take at least another $15,000-$20,000. Then we must get a new barn before winter.
