A Diary of Hope

The week of June 12-16, 2000

I am tickled pink & purple. The water line is in, the dozer work begins this week, we have the shade cloth, and as soon as we find out when the gravel can be laid for the road to the canine center and office, we will move the cattery and office. We need more money to get the decks and canine condos built - but that will happen.

Working on several abandonment cases. I put out a standing $500.00 Reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone in MS. abandoning animals during this summer. Someone abandoned 8 newborn pups near our office. They were euthanized because of illness and heat exposure.

Working diligently on a shooting case. A well positioned woman in Kilmichael, MS. wounded one families small dog, and killed their pet rooster. She has also wounded and killed other animals. The family that called said that law enforcement is not interested in taking action. We are.

We rescued 3 more dogs that were left behind by a man evading arrest. We will add to his legal woes 6 counts of cruelty abandonment for the 3 dogs and 3 cats we have not yet caught. We Believe That One of the Dogs Was Not Legally in His Possession. With the aid of a dear friend in the area we are trying to discover who had the dog vaccinated in '98. The vet misplaced his record book for that year.

There are endless tasks here at the sanctuary. It is so wonderful to be getting aid with them.

Getting ready for court still. Three cases. Our cruelty case with the Minteers, Terri Riley's and Orita's for "dog theft".
