Current diary entries I
Past diary entries Doll's Diary Account by Doll Stanley, May 23rd, 2005 It’s 1:57 a.m., and I am too tired to describe my week. I’m cramming to get things done before catch a plane this afternoon for a two-week trip to California. I am going to help my brother, who hasn’t been doing so well since our Mom died. Things are in order business-wise. Supplies are stocked for the sanctuary, and I’m not worried about leaving the place in Sonya’s trustworthy and experienced hands. She got married yesterday. I pray that she and George will literally live happily ever after. Today we had the best adoption day ever – eight dogs! Plus, a couple of others found new homes during the week. Excellent!!! We also rescued several dogs, three of who were adopted today. The SPAN MS (Spay and Neuter Mississippi) Conference on Saturday was excellent. Cindy Bailey and myself represented IDA. Debbie Young and Dr. Christine were forced to miss the conference because of last-minute responsibilities that came up, and Sherri from Cleveland also had to bow out. I will see that she gets the materials. Basically, representatives of humane societies, rescue groups, and shelters from across Mississippi gathered to take on the job of ending the plight of unwanted and homeless animals. Great meetings, real determination, and some truly awesome folks to work with made this conference a special experience. I spent most of the week traveling around for supplies and dispersing a load of cat food that we were able to share with groups attending the conference. Anyway, I need to get some sleep. I have a really busy morning before I leave for the West Coast. But it’s nice to look back on an exciting week of productivity, planning, and a measurable slice of hope for all the animals we help, long to help, and ourselves. Doll |
