Current diary entries I
Past diary entries Doll's Diary Account by Doll Stanley, 4-19-2005 Dear Diary, We didn't have any adoptions this week – none! Sure, it's a real downer, but it'll pass. Everyone's experiencing the same thing because pups and kittens are available in nearly every neighborhood. We were involved in some rescues, with several requests to aid rescued dogs coming in. We are looking at our options, and have committed to helping if the dogs fit in with at least one of our groups. Bear was chained up and neglected. His rescuer is having him spayed and vaccinated, then will bring him to us. Sister Pat is bringing one of two dogs she is having treated for demodex, which are nasty little parasitic mites. If he gets along with other dogs and his condition isn't set back by the move, we'll work with him. Meanwhile, the Rankin County horse neglect case I wrote about in my last diary entry is well under way. I sent a letter to the Board of Supervisors and started preparing for the Board Meeting on May 2nd. We'll have witnesses, affidavits and photos ready to show that someone at the Sheriff's office wasn't doing their job. We're asking that the Animal Control Officer (ACO) and maybe his Supervisor be suspended without pay. The case against the Wolfe brothers, who it turns out may have starved as many as eighty cows, continues to grow. I am meeting with witnesses tonight, where I will show pictures of cattle that died on their rented land and an aerial photo of twelve cows lying dead on their property. I am also investigating a new report that a zoo is enclosing live animals (rabbits, maybe a goat) in the alligator exhibit. Apparently, a class of young children on a field trip saw an alligator eat a live rabbit. As far as work at the sanctuary goes, Sonya and Heather are doing a great job, and George helps out on the weekends. I couldn't function without them. I'm still trying to get James back to do maintenance. Doll Stanley, Project Hope |
