Nelson
- Adopted 01/10/03
Nelson,
the 76 pound Black Lab who has been one of the most animated and
personable companions at Project Hope, drove off today as he charmed
his way into his new Guardians heart, Casey.
It was bittersweet to watch his soulful eyes disappear down the
road to his new home. Not because we had become so attached, despite
his tendency to drive ya nuts with his incessant barking and precocious
behavior, that would often lead him directly to purgatory in his
pen. Not because his loss means the end of the perfect “catch”
partner.

Stella - Adopted 01/04/03
Stella is beautiful, sweet, and a very special lady. She is truly a people lover, but also gets along well with dogs that dont pick on her. She could be shepherd, husky, and hound. What we do know is that at about 4-5 years old she is a delightful companion.

Honey - Adopted 12/08/02
Honey was one of 6 dogs and 2 horses that had nearly starved to death when, with the aid of the Pontotoc Sheriffs Dept., Doll rescued them. Honey gave birth to 6 pups her first week at Project Hope. She was later placed, but returned when her guardian discovered he was severely allergic to her. She was placed a second time, only to be returned when her guardian moved.
While it was everyone at Project Hopes utmost pleasure to care for Honey, we were thrilled when her new family brought her in for Santa photos Dec. 8th. Cheer could be heard from the Jackson, MS. PetsMart adoption center as Project Hope staff & volunteers alerted each other that, Honey is here, Honey is here!"

Sam - Adopted 12/01/02
Sam is the most aloof lab Project Hope ever had the privilege of knowing. He was rescued about 3 years ago from another Mississippi animal collector. Because he was timid, black, and an adult he was hard to place. Persistence paid off, as a family was looking for a quiet, adult dog to be a partner. All is working out well.

Taffy - Adopted 12/08/02
Doll rescued Taffy 5 years ago, when she learned that an elderly collector had been jailed for failing to respond to a court summons after failing to keep his dogs on his own property. Doll received a panicked call that animal control was on the site shooting dogs, and responded by calling local media and racing to the site.
Taffy was one of the dogs Doll aided animal control in catching. She had to be treated for heartworms, and then she was placed with a young family with two children. Later the family adopted Oscar, a little dog that they, and Doll found at a Grenada Lake recreation area.
